Spotify might be facing hurdles with leading music labels to kickstart the transition and expand deals. Although unlikely, pushing podcasts and podcast-centric features might have forced the company to put Spotify HiFi on the backburner.Īnd let’s not forget the complex world of music licensing deals. As you might be aware, Spotify has been heavily focusing on podcasts lately and has been striking deals with high-profile personalities such as Joe Rogan and Michelle Obama. If you love the apple ecosystem and generally like mainstream music its just fine and gets the job done.Another possibility why Spotify HiFi is still not available could be due to a perceivable change in priorities. Not to mention they have MANY more options for playlists. Spotify you can do everything via the mobile app (which in today's world is how it should be) and is consistent with explicit/non explicit music on their playlists. Also I noticed a lot of curated playlists will have some songs explicit and others edited. For instance, you can't organize playlists based on alphabetical with artists or putting most recent added songs automatically to the top without doing so on the Mac app. While I am definitely in the latter group, I can't help but continue using Spotify as AM just doesn't have the features that Spotify has. Apple Music is an added benefit for those that wish to stay in the ecosystem. I think the issue lies with the fact that Spotify's literal bread-and-butter is audio streaming. Spotify is lightyears ahead of apple music with constant updates and quality of life improvements. Spotify says the new feature will be rolling out in the coming weeks for users, so be sure to be on the latest Spotify version for Android and iOS. What’s New also includes filters that allow you to sort for new music releases or new podcast and show episodes, helping you find what you’re looking for more quickly. A blue dot indicator on the bell icon will let you know at a glance if new songs or episodes have been released since your last visit. As Spotify describes in a press release:Įasily access your What’s New feed by clicking the new bell icon, located at the top of the Home tab on your phone. Tapping provides users a "real-time" view of all the new releases from their favorite artists and podcast creators. The new page will be accessible with a tap of a new bell icon placed on the top-right hand corner on the Spotify home page. In the coming weeks on iOS and Android, Spotify will be rolling out a new tab in its mobile app that will provide users with notifications about new songs and album releases from their favorite artists, podcasts shows, and more.
